ทำไมเอา Ubuntu Desktop ทำเซิร์ฟเวอร์??

ผมคาใจเรื่องนี้อยู่นานแล้วครับว่า หลายคนชอบเอา Ubuntu Desktop มาทำเป็นเซิร์ฟเวอร์ ถามว่าทำไม  เขาก็คงตอบว่าก็ Ubuntu Desktop มันมีกราฟิกมาให้ใช้สะดวกดี อันนั้นก็ไม่เถียงครับ  Ubuntu Server ไม่มีกราฟิกมาให้ แต่ติดตั้งภายหลังได้ ด้วยเหตุผลนี้กระมังที่หลายคนคิดสั้นๆ แค่นี้  ลองคิดดูดีๆครับ ถ้า Ubuntu Desktop มันไม่มีอะไรแตกต่างกับ Ubuntu Server แล้วเขาจะแยกพัฒนาทำไม  Ubuntu Server กับ Ubuntu Desktop มีข้อแตกต่างกันหลายข้อซึ่งผมอ่านแล้วก็เข้าใจบ้างไม่เข้าใจบ้าง และมันจะมีผลอย่างไรผมก็ไม่รู้อีก เอ้า! แล้วจะมาเขียนเรื่องนี้ทำไม ก็จะมาบอกให้หลายคนที่ยังหลงผิด หรือยังไม่มีข้อมูลเรื่องนี้ได้ทราบครับ ใครที่อ่านเรื่องต่อไปนี้เข้าใจแจ่มแจ้งก็ช่วยอธิบายด้วยก็แล้วกันนะครับ

Server and Desktop Differences

There are a few differences between the Ubuntu Server Edition and the
Ubuntu Desktop Edition. It should be noted that both editions use the same
apt repositories. Making it just as easy to install a server
application on the Desktop Edition as it is on the Server Edition.

The differences between the two editions are the lack of an X window environment in the Server Edition,
the installation process, and different Kernel options.
